In Azerbaijan food is far more than nourishment. It is a cultural code a family ritual and a form of emotional connection. Whether it is breakfast lunch or dinner the preparation of food becomes a meaningful act shared across generations. This deep-rooted culinary tradition lies at the heart of Azerbaijani Cuisine Tempered with Love.

This book is the author’s first culinary photography project conceived during the global lockdown. Living far from her homeland in Brazil Sura Madatova began cooking traditional Azerbaijani dishes and photographing them as a way to preserve memory reconnect with her roots and find inner balance. The process brought her both aesthetic and mental fulfillment and inspired her to pursue food photography professionally.

First published in Portuguese in 2021 the book also carried a charitable purpose. All proceeds from sales were donated to a children’s home in Brazil. This edition presents the book in Russian and English offering a wider audience an intimate visual journey into Azerbaijani cuisine and culture.

More than a cookbook this is a personal and artistic narrative. A story of heritage distance and belonging told through flavors textures and images all tempered with love.
